Last week I visited the Singapore National Art Museum.
With the Student Pass, I entered the museum for free.
Before coming to Singapore,I ‘ve seen this special building because it is a successful case for refreshment of historical building. But I did’t realize it is just Singapore national art museum until I came here.
In the museum , I appreciated a lot of precious art work.
It is a good memory for me in Singapore!

Entrepreneurship is an elective course, designed and deployed by Professor Jianxi Luo, at the Singapore University of Technology & Design (SUTD). 30.111 is the course number. 30.111 nurtures student startups based on their actual hands-on design projects at SUTD. It works as a 3.5-month pre-seed accelerator with a structured academic and theoretical foundation. Experiential learning is aided with lectures, readings, classroom activities and guest panel discussions. Entrepreneurial students learn social-technical factors and forces affecting the entrepreneurship process and the principles for designing products, processes and people organizations under extreme uncertainty. This course has been supported by a large international network of 100+ entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, design and manufacturing experts. 1/3 of the course projects and teams have become actual startups and entrepreneurs.
Students learn knowledge and skills for design-centric entrepreneurship, by starting up a new venture based on their design projects, which ideally should leverage existing design prototypes and ideas from prior courses, fifth row, UROP, etc. Experiential learning is aided by lectures, readings and guest sharing. Via integrated experiential and theoretical learning activities, students are expected to understand the fundamental characteristics of the entrepreneurship process and the fundamental principles that underpin the integrated product-process-people design decisions under extreme uncertainty and resource constraints. The venture projects are supported by an “ecosystem” of entrepreneurs, innovators and venture capitalists.
We have to attend classes twice a week. One is lecture and the other is cohort class. My team is working on a project called Boxwaay, and our main product is frozen meat subscription. One of our teammates, Augustine, is a young entrepreneur himself and owns a company called UglyFood. He noticed that there are always tons of edible fruit being discarded every day, simply because they are not that pleasing to the eye, so he collected them from fruit retailers and make them into juices and sorbet popsicles. So we wondered: is it possible to project this idea into the general food market? We tried to go with meat. Meat is definitely something a lot of people can’t live without, from people who work out and require protein intake to Chinese people that enjoy hotpot. Augustine knew some meat retailers so we can have access to frozen meat supply. We made pretotypes of our products and so far it seems to work just the way we planned.
Last month, my friends and I took a trip to the Singapore zoo. Here we saw a large number of different animals. The most interesting part is the architectural style of the zoo that shows south-eastern culture.
In conclusion, the zoo is really worthwhile!

After a two-day break, we ushered in an orientation and friendship event in SUTD.
I took the MRT with my fellow friends, we got off the train from Upper changi station and came to SUTD, which is also where I will study and live as an exchange student. SUTD is Singapore University of Technology and Design. This is a university that has just been established for ten years. Its scale is not large, but the curriculum design and education concept are very advanced. This is why I came here to study.
Although I have seen pictures of it online, it still impresses me with its modern design and wonderful plant decoration in the middle. Soon, we came to the think tank of orientation, and the staff of SUTD started to introduce our exchange program to us. I noticed that not only Asia, but also many students from Europe and the United States came here to study. Next is game time, and we know each other through games.
After learning about the new school and making new friends today, I am really looking forward to my future life.
On a gentle night in September, I set out from Hangzhou and got on a plane to Changi Airport. After a few hours of flying, I woke up from my sleep and saw an illuminated island out of the window. This was Singapore’s first impression of me, quiet and vibrant.
After getting off the plane, I felt Singapore’s charm as a multicultural country. I saw many people with different skin colors and different clothing styles at Changi Airport.
The first problem I encountered was that I did n’t know how to take a taxi. In my home country, we all used an app called didi taxi, but this app is no longer available. I googled and found that people use the app called Grab here, I downloaded it, but there is no suitable payment method. Finally, with the help of passersby, I learned that today’s first MRT is about to depart, and the Anglican house I’m going to is not far from the MRT, so I came to the MRT station near the airport. After more than half an hour on the subway, I arrived at Tanah Merah MRT station. Leaving the MRT, I followed the direction of Google Maps to the Anglican house where I would live for three months. After rectification, I was tired, lying in bed, thinking about my future life, feeling excited and nervous. Although I just finished summer research intern from the United States, studying in a new country is still so exciting. I will cherish the opportunity to learn and feel the charm of Singapore’s multiculturalism.

I’ve always had the preference for sunsets, oceans, coffee shops and fine little bistros by the street. That probably explains why I love the East Coast area so much.

East Coast is about 20 minutes away from SUTD by bus. From time to time I’d get bored with the simple food choices provided at the school canteen, so I often visited East Coast just for a switch. From fancy diners to low priced street food stalls, East Coast satiates most appetites.

There are plenty of cuisines to choose from here on the East Coast. Katong 328 Laksa, Apollo Char Kway Teow, and Sinpopo Brand cakes are my personal favorites.
Last month, on 17th Octobor, we were fortunately to be invited to attend the 2019 Young Asian Leaders Forum. Here we listened many successful young leaders to tell their stories about their work to create a peaceful and sustainable future.
Nowadays, every country have complex connections in economy, social life and many other aspects. Not a country can become prosperous without corporation with other countries. Therefore, friendship between two countries is very precious and it can surely boost the development of two countries toghther!

In this project we raise funds on the street and the money will be used for children suffering from diseases to cure and go back to school.
Though it is not compulsory to do something else to attract people to donate, it is still tiring just standing on street for about 4 hours. Through these experience, we became more cherish our opportunity to go to university to study. And what is more valuable than money is people’s selfless love.
One challenge is that I am not very sure how to collect money from the strangers. But when I stood on the street, I found that many people would donate money on their initiative because when they see the logo on our collecting box they knew it is a trustworthy program held by a standard organization.
This fact moved me very much that because such program is regularly held in Singapore, habitants here are familiar with such program then they can donate their money with trust.
In a word, kindness is just a habit and it can be a habit!
