This week is my birthday and we goto downtown to celebrate it. We go to the national gallery and visit teamlab’s show which is quite interesting. It’s my first foreign country’s birthday, though there is no cake, it’s good to have friends around. That day we tasted TianTian Chicken Rice which was delicious and cheap. In all, it’s an enjoyable week!
熊卡尔, Xiong Kaer – 2019 Young Asian Leaders Sharing Forum
Today we attended the TF LEaRN program sharing forum in NUS. Peace and sustainable development are the subject of this sharing. Throughout the sharing session, I saw many familiar faces. Through their personal experiences, I have a deeper understanding of social awareness. At lunch time, I had a discussion with foreign students and shared our insights on social mission issues.

熊卡尔, Xiong Kaer – Zam Zam
I went to Zam Zam to taste Indian food with Allen today. I have to say that the rich taste of Indian food made me fascinated. When the first scoop of curry entered my mouth, all my taste buds were wrapped in wonderful taste. I like the spicy and sweetness of Indian food. Of course, the rice in Indian cuisine is also the finishing touch. It’s so delicious!

沈舒涵 Shen Shu han-f1 performance

Wu shanshan-MWH Flag Day
On October 5th, I participated in my last CIP event, which is raising funds for children in a welfare home. For most of them, the pleasures of their own hearth and home are out of reach. In the beginning, the collection of tins seems an embarrassing thing to many of us, we are somewhat afraid of being refused by strangers. And in our country, there exist pretended beggars who make use of the sympathy of people to collect money, thus fewer people are willing to offer help. However, in Singapore, things turn out to be different.
When we resort to people, especially those who have children by their side, they will hand the coin to the children and let them cast it. Even with a little sticker reward, they are happy to receive the glory. I still remember when I asked help from a mother and a daughter, the daughter asked: “Why should we do this?” The mother replied: “Because we need to share!” Those words really made my day. Thanks for the experience for displaying the gentle side of the world to me.
安晶琛 AnJingchen – Trip to Eastcoast
This weekend, as we all had finished our homework, we went on a trip to the east coast according to the dormitory administrator’s advice. It took quite a long time walking to the destination. On our way, I saw a small football campus and there were some children playing football. Through the fences, I could easily feel the happiness and excitement of them, which I haven’t had for years. It recalled my childhood memory, when the happiness is that pure and simple. Therefore, I took this picture and named it the childhood memory.
Then we set off to the coast, as it was already six, so we had our dinner first. We tasted the local lobsters and fish which were delicious, and ordered coconut milk for drink. When having dinner, the gentle breeze made it more enjoyable. While walking along the coast, we saw a family sitting on the rocks and chatting happily. Such a peaceful scene! The couple hugged tightly and just sat there enjoying the time of their own. It was exactly the ideal life for me when I was old.
熊卡尔, Xiong Kaer – Colorful cityscape
The most profound feeling I felt when I first arrived in Singapore was that the exterior of the building was colorful. The three main colors are: yellow, blue, and light red. This color atmosphere gives me insight into the vitality and affinity of the city. At the same time, the different colors of various building walls also distinguish the characteristics of different areas. This kind of scenery is very Singaporean.

杨珺杰Yang junjie-Volunteer activities in Singapore
It’s been almost a month since I came to Singapore to study and live. During this time, I met many new friends and became more independent.
More importantly, I participated in many meaningful volunteer activities
under the organization of TF Foundation and SUTD,such as NKF Bedok Dialysis
Befriender, Blossom Home Refresh, MWH Flag Day.These activities are very
different from each other, but they are all fascinating and valuable.
I remember the smile on their faces when we were playing games with uremic patients. I remember the happiness when we were cleaning the room for the aged. I remember the "thank you" when we were raising money at the subway station.Although every activity is very toilsome, we are full of harvest. Although volunteer activities are over, I hope there will be more opportunities to help others in the future.
曹家扬 Cao Jiayang – Tired but happy things
If I am asked to use two words describing the recent life, I will certainly choose tired and happy!
Firstly, the tiredness came from the busier and busier study work as well as the voluntary work. Actually our friends in China are enjoying the holiday of National Day now while I am still fighting with my Java projects!!! No doubt I am longing to have fun all around Singapore but all I do is just coding in my room, classroom and library. even on weekends we have voluntary work to do. Last weekend we went to help the elderly clean their house and this weekend collect funds for children in bad situations as a tin-bearer.
But do I hate the tiring life?
NO!
Despite of tiredness what I got from life is enormous happiness!!! When coding, I felt like swimming in the sea of logic and achievement. I do enjoy the experience in coding even it is a “failed”. Besides, from the voluntary work I got not only happiness but also deeper feelings to life and love. I saw the lonely but optimistic elderly living their lives well. I felt the love in those who put their change into our tins while passing by. I watched the education from parents to their children that the love and kindness to the weak groups and the society is such great and valueless. I was surprised. I was moved! Under such circumstance how could I feel my tiredness?
安晶琛 AnJingchen-Funds Collection
This week is very meaningful for me. As we went out to collect funds as tin-bearers in street. I was a little embarrassed at first. And I really doubted whether people will give out for that, as in China, many are considered as liars for that if without the official documents or banners. Will it work? However, it turned out that it actually will. At the beginning, nobody came to me and I walked around and chatted with people about the thing I was doing eagerly, I got refused for dozens of times. It felt frustrating and a little bit disappointing. However, things went well after a while. I felt grateful for people who just walked towards me and gave out kindness. Some of them were parents with children, which was indeed a great opportunity for education, and I hoped they could do the same thing as me when they grew up. Some of them were elegant women, they didn’t look different with others, however, their kindness brightened my day. What surprised me most was three men. One is a disabled man, unable to walk around like normal people, however, he insisted giving out 10$ to me for the sake of children to be helped. I was moved that moment, the one who needed others’ care still thought about giving out his cash to help others. The second one was a foodpanda deliverer. Obviously he was in a hurry for the numerous takeouts in his hands, however, he stopped by and took out all the coins he had and gave me. At that moment, I was touched by his kindness. Though in a hurry, still remembering to give out love and kindness. The third man was an old man with ragged clothes. At first, I thought I would receive the biggest amount of money from someone who was wealthy, however, it turned out to be this man. Though he was wearing old and ragged clothes, he gave out the biggest amount of money that I received that day – 20$. I can’t imagine what 20$ meant to him, but it could not be a small amount. Giving up having a nice meal for himself, he gave out to the society for the children, which made me impressed for a long time.
After coming back, I thought about that day again and again. Every time I thought over, I would get touched again and again. It told me: even if the fate had been very unfair to you: it ripped you of your wealth, health or time, you can always show kind to others. It is never too late to show kindness to others. The ability gained from the activity was also very great: I can overcome the fear talking with strangers and walk out of the comfort zone. This experience was so valuable that I will never forget.
