I never heard about Deepvali before, so this is my first time to experience this festival. Together with my friends, I went to Little India that night and closely experienced how it is like.
Now I know that Deepavali is also known as the “Festival of Lights,” and the holiday abounds with all manner of colourful lights displays in public and numerous clay lamps to light up private homes. This is meant to symbolise the Hindu religious concept of “light conquering darkness.”
We saw a lot of people in the temple there and also saw numerous people in the Indian shop, looking to buy Indian ethnic wear, jewellery, decorations and traditional snacks.
It was really a lively night!
